The exhibition of “CODED CULTURES - Exploring Creative Emergences” is presenting international artworks and projects related to the four sub-topics of the festival: Designing Complexity, Assembling Things, Expanding Locality and Creating Proto-Culture.
The presented positions from Japan, Austria and Europe are distinguished by creative practices which explore new forms of media integrated delineation- and knowledge-cultures. By this means they are situated on the intersection of disciplines and have actively integrated different cultural fields in their artistic development.

The exhibition was developed within the course of Dr. Georg Russegger at the department of “Transmedia Arts”. Related to the context of CODED CULTURES and the »Austria-Japan Year 2009« the aim was to explore contents and practices of creative self-design and self-organization, to raise questions about binational cooperations of artists and artistic projects.

Fr., 17.3., 19h “Der Kubus”: Ausstellungseröffnung - March 17th, 2006

Performative Installation im öffentlichen Raum, Fotos und Videodokumentation von Ekaterina Radeva und Michail Michailov

Die bulgarischen Künstler Michail Michailov und Ekaterina Radeva inszenieren einen Plexiglas-Kubus (1m Seitenlänge) mit einer sich darin befindenden Person im öffentlichen Raum. So entsteht eine Situation welche den eigenen Raum sowie die Grenzen und das Verhältnis Individuum/Gesellschaft – Inneres/Äußeres symbolisiert. Der Kubus grenzt scheinbar die sich in seinem Inneren befindende Person ab und ermöglicht gleichzeitig einen neuen kommunikativen Zugang zu ihr. Für die Aktion wurden unterschiedliche Orte im öffentlichen Raum und der Umgebung Wiens ausgesucht (MQ, Kohlmarkt, Wiener Wald etc.). Entscheidend ist die Umgebung (Natur/Urbanität/Menschenmasse), um den Kontrast mit dem Geschehen und den Zuständen im Kubus hervorzuheben. Ausstellung von 18.3.-24.3. bei 5uper.net/cuisine digitale!
